SHARON Cops catch suspect after 2-hour chase
The suspect made a bad move when he ran into a house on Orchard Street.
SHARON, Pa. -- It took about two hours, but police said they finally caught up with a New Castle Avenue man who led them on a foot chase around the city's South Side.
Police initially went to a residence in the 400 block of Prindle Street about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday to serve a warrant on Alvin Combs III, 33, who was supposed to be visiting there.
The resident of the home, Charles Deems, 26, denied that Combs was there, but police said he was hiding inside and ran out of the house with police in pursuit.
Police said he was wanted for failing to show up for a court hearing on an arrest June 4 on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said he accosted a Sharon woman in the 200 block of South Irvine Avenue that day, sticking the barrel of a gun in her mouth and threatening to kill her.
Chase begins
After fleeing Deems' residence, Combs ran south and got into an occupied house in the 200 block of Orchard Street, where he was bitten on the face by the family pit bull and punched twice by one of the residents.
He ran out of that house and police kept chasing him but lost him temporarily.
They caught up with him about 7 p.m. in a house in the 100 block of East Budd Street, where he was found hiding under a bed.
The resident of that house, Catherine Pope, 45, at first denied he was hiding there, police said.
Both she and Deems were arrested on charges of hindering apprehension, and Pope was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deems was later released but directed to report to the office of District Justice James McMahon for arraignment. Pope and Combs were held in custody overnight for arraignment today.
Police said Combs faces additional charges of burglary, flight to avoid arrest, escape, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
