Selected to sing
BOARDMAN -- Recent Boardman High School graduate Brian Goddard has been selected to sing with the 41st edition of the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir. Brian, who also participated last year, will be one of 200 high-school singers statewide who will sing with the choir at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, through next Saturday. Rehearsals began July 27 and, during the fair, the choir will perform more than 100 times. Brian is the son of Jerry and Jane Goddard of Boardman. He has participated in high-school choir, Spartan Singers and The Chorale.

Thiel staff changes
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College has recently restructured its Office of Student Services by appointing employees to new positions and adding a new staff member.
The changes are: Roseanne Gill-Jacobson, former vice president for student services and dean of students, now vice president for student services and enrollment management and dean of students; Jeff Baylor, former associate dean of students, now dean of enrollment; Marianne Calenda, former assistant dean of students, now associate dean of students and director of residence life; Mark Thompson, former director of admissions, now director of alliances and high-school relations; Stephanie Erdice, former coordinator of student activities, now student services specialist; Melanie Koontz, hired as director of student activities.

KENT -- Kent State University will be featured on an upcoming episode of "Room-by-Room College Style" on the Home and Garden Television network. Watch at 9 p.m. Friday as hosts Matt Fox and Shari Hiller remake a room in the new Centennial Court B residence hall. The show airs again at midnight next Saturday.

Union president
GIRARD -- The Ohio Association of Public School Employees has announced that JoAnn Johntony of Girard was selected this spring to retain the presidency of the statewide labor union. Johntony, head custodian in the Girard City Schools, has been an OAPSE member for 33 years and president for 18. The statewide union represents 37,000 members.
Appointed IFI Fellow
YOUNGSTOWN -- William J. Blake of Akron, director of student activities at Youngstown State University, was one of four people selected as an Interfraternity Institute Fellow. The weeklong summer program took place in July at Indiana University in Bloomington. This marks the third time in 14 years that Blake has been appointed an IFI Fellow.
Seventy students from throughout the nation participated in the week's festivities, with a primary goal to create a working partnership among university staff and fraternity and sorority personnel.
