Fleeing car hits vehicle, police say; 2 injured
LORDSTOWN -- Two female drivers were taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a two-car accident Monday at the CSX railroad crossing on Highland Avenue in which one car was going an estimated 90 mph.
Warren Township police noticed suspicious activity involving a car on the south side of the township, Lordstown police said.
A male passenger jumped out of that car, and township police chased him on foot. They were unable to locate the man.
Township police then attempted to stop the car, which was going an estimated 90 mph when it rear-ended the other car at the rail crossing, village police said.
Warren Township Lt. Don Bishop said Tamera Dotson, 44, of Mason Street, Niles, was the driver of the speeding car. He said he was filing a charge of felony fleeing against Dotson this morning in Warren Municipal Court.
The name of the other driver was not immediately available.
The crossing gate control box was destroyed in the 7:47 p.m. accident.
The accident report said a male passenger in the car that was rear-ended was not injured.
