No arrest madein rape, beating
YOUNGSTOWN -- As of this morning, no arrest had been made in the rape and beating of a 16-year-old East Side girl who was attacked Sunday in Lincoln Park. The girl was shown a photo of a man taken into custody Sunday night at Forum North Side Medical Center on an unrelated warrant and held for questioning. The victim, who had been taken to the same hospital, said the photo didn't look like the man who raped her but she couldn't be sure. The suspect is a thin black man, 30 to 40 years old, with a mustache and black hat with a white "K" on it.
Special meeting
LOWELLVILLE -- The board of education will meet in special session at 7 a.m. Wednesday in the school library-media center to discuss construction of the stadium track.
Review of application
CRAIG BEACH -- Members of village council's judicial committee examined the tax credit application submitted by a developer seeking to build 34 rental homes for low- and moderate-income village residents.
The committee found no significant problems with the application from NRP Group of Cleveland, which the state already has approved, and made no recommendation to council concerning it when it met Monday night.
The committee reviewed the document because village officials had considered seeking a court injunction to block construction because of their concerns about drainage issues, said Councilwoman Joyce Hamrick, committee chairwoman. Hamrick said NRP hasn't yet applied for a village zoning permit, and she has no idea when construction will begin.

CAMPBELL -- Police recovered a car reported stolen in Lowellville after it was found abandoned in a Robinson Road parking lot.
Police said the gold 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass was discovered in a parking lot in the 300 block of Robinson Road about 2 p.m. Saturday. The police report noted that the car was not damaged and the keys were not found.
Driver arrested
YOUNGSTOWN -- A stolen 1991 Volvo was pursued and stopped by police on the East Side early today and the driver arrested. Stefan Breedlove, 43, of Stewart Street was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property, driving under suspension, false information to avoid a citation and drug paraphernalia (crack pipe). Breedlove identified himself as someone else but one of the arresting officers recognized him, reports show. He was also served with a warrant that was issued when he failed to appear in municipal court July 25 on a drug paraphernalia charge. Police had spotted Breedlove backing out of the Stiles Market on McGuffey Road at a high speed and without headlights about 1:15 a.m. and pursued the car to a driveway on Lansdowne Boulevard.
Boy arrested
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 13-year-old East Pasadena boy driving a stolen car was arrested on the South Side on Monday afternoon. Police saw the 1986 Pontiac on East Lucius Avenue with a smashed vent window about 5:15 p.m. and pursued it to a driveway on East Avondale Avenue. The officers found on the front seat a screwdriver, a tool typically used to peel steering columns, which allows many older-model cars to be started without a key. The East Middle School sixth-grader was taken to the juvenile justice center to face charges of receiving stolen property, possession of criminal tools and no operator's license.
