Scrappers rained out
AUBURN, N.Y. -- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers (19-26) will play a doubleheader today against the Auburn Doubledays following Sunday's rainout.
The first seven-inning game of the New York-Penn League doubleheader at Falcon Park will begin at 6:05 p.m. Auburn leads the Pinckney Division with a league-best 36-9 record.
Babe Ruth starswin second game
SPENCER, Ind. -- The Youngstown Babe Ruth 14-year-old all-stars defeated Hammond, Ind., 11-3 Sunday in the Ohio Valley Regional tournament.
Armani Johnson pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, as Youngstown won its second straight game.
Corey Collins had three hits and Matt Katich two for Youngstown, while Frank Rosile and Tony Brunetti had two RBIs each.
Canfield wins opener
HAMILTON -- Anthony Gelonese had a bases-loaded triple as Canfield defeated Ironton, 13-2, in the Little League baseball (9-10) state tournament Sunday.
Michael Werner had two hits and three RBIs for Canfield (1-0).
Poland claims victory
CANFIELD -- Poland beat Wheelersburg, 5-2, and Tallmadge defeated Clyde, 17-1, in 9-10 Little League state softball tournament Sunday at McCune Park.
Today, Englewood plays Wheelersburg at 6 p.m., followed by Conneaut and Clyde at 8.
Racing canceled
FRANKLIN, Pa. -- Rain canceled racing at Tri-City Speedway Sunday afternoon.
Aug. 10 will be Buyer's Fair-Pennzoil/Molson Night at Tri-City. On Aug. 17, Tri-City will hold another five-star show of the Super Sprints, DIRT Modifieds, E Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars. In addition, the second set of One-on-One Spectator Races will be run.

Boardman manin senior tournament
MANASSAS, Va. -- Chuck Fairchild Jr. of Boardman was 61st after the first round of the PBA Senior-Manassas Open at Bowl America Manassas on Sunday.
Fairchild's eight-game pinfall was 1,573. The early leader was Vince Mazzanti Jr. of Levittown, Pa., with 1,827.

Montoya takesgrand prix
HOCKENHEIM, Germany -- Juan Pablo Montoya won the German Grand Prix on Sunday, speeding away after a crash in the opening seconds took out three top contenders.
It was Montoya's second victory in 2003 after the Monaco Grand Prix and third in his career. The Williams-BMW driver moved into second place in the season standings.
