VALLEY Local golfers perform well in tournaments



Several golfers were age-group winners in junior competition.
WALTON HILLS -- Katie Jurenovich of Warren, competing in the 12-15 year old division, shot 49-45--94 to place third in the North Coast Junior Golf Tour Thursday at Astorhurst Country Club.
Frederiqua Bruell of Shaker Heights won as she shot 40-41--81.
Oak Tree Juniors
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- Scott Jones, David Castell, Bruce Timko, Katie Rogner and Heather Blair were age-group winners in the 6th Junior Golf Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club.
Jones carded 70 in the 16- to 18-year-old group, followed by Dan Trolio's 74 and Chris Cerenelli's 76. Castell's 78 led 13- to 15-year-olds with Joey Santisi scoring 81 and Tom Dewey 82. Timko was the 9 to 12 (nine-hole) leader with 43 followed by Ben Infante's 45 and Ryan Prokay.
Rogner and Ashley Latrow were the top two girls in A division while Blair and Maria Wartham were 1-2 in A division.
Squaw Creek Juniors
VIENNA -- Tyler Waite of East Livepool, Ryan Miller and Bo Siemons, both of West Middlesex, Megan Bricker of Medina and Karly Johnson and Danielle Gagliardi of Canfield were bracket winners of the Squaw Creek Country Club Junior Golf Tournament.
Waite had 76 in the 16-18 age group, Miller 73 among 13- to 15-year-olds and Siemons 44 in the 10- to 12-year-old's nine-hole competition. Siemons won a playoff with Bruce Timko of Girard.
Bricker was tops among 16-18 girls with 84, Johnson won the 13-15 division with 98 and Gagliardi had 55 over nine holes among 10-12s.
Rally for a Cure
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The team of Flo Jablonski, Carrie Spaulding, Nancy Koehler and Flo Reardon combined for a 41 to win the Rally for a Cure Tournament at Mohawk Trails recently. The event was a scramble.
