MERCER Trial date set for woman in death of boyfriend

The case had been delayed because the defendant changed attorneys.
MERCER, Pa. -- The trial of a Hadley woman accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend after an argument March 10, 2002, is set to begin Aug. 12 in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Jury selection is scheduled that morning in the first- and third-degree murder case against Kathleen A. Robinson, 32.
Her trial has been delayed at least twice, once in October when she changed from a public defender to a private defense attorney, and again in January when the court determined her new attorney needed more time to prepare the case.
She remains in Mercer County jail without bond.
Authorities said Robert A. Erickson, 42, died after being shot once in the abdomen around 2 a.m. March 10 in the Pearson Road home he shared with Robinson.
Followed argument
Police said the pair had argued earlier in the evening at a bar after Robinson learned he apparently had asked another woman out on a date. Robinson told him she wanted him to move out, police said.
He left the bar and went home and was lying on the couch when Robinson and a female friend, Judy Knauff, also of Hadley, arrived at the residence.
Knauff told authorities that Robinson again ordered Erickson to leave, and when he failed to do so, she pulled a rifle out of a closet, loaded it and again warned him to go.
Knauff said that she tried to take the gun away from Robinson but that Robinson pushed her aside and fired once at Erickson.
He died four hours later while undergoing surgery at UPMC Horizon in Greenville.
