Cleveland signs holdout linebacker Michael Lehan to five-year contract
BEREA (AP) -- The Cleveland Browns got another of their holdout rookie draft picks into training camp Friday, signing cornerback Michael Lehan to a five-year deal.
The Browns have also agreed to terms on a five-year contract with defensive lineman Antonio Garay, who is expected to sign his contract once he arrives in Cleveland.
Lehan, a four-year starter at Minnesota, was on the field for Friday's practice against the Buffalo Bills. The teams will scrimmage today at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The 6-foot, 190-pounder Lehan was one of Cleveland's two fifth-round draft picks.
The Browns have taken a hard-line stance with their draft picks this year by attempting to sign them to five-year deals. Typically, low-round picks -- after the first and second round -- sign two- and three-year contracts so it doesn't affect their fourth year when they are eligible for free agency.
None of the Browns' seven draft picks reported to camp on time, but they've been trickling in at about the rate of one per day this week.
On Thursday, the club signed cornerback Chris Crocker, who said his agent just wanted the best deal for his client.
"Nobody wants to hold out," Crocker said. "We all signed fair deals. Hopefully, if we're playing like we should be in the fourth year, we'll re-negotiate."
Running back Lee Suggs, who is rehabbing from shoulder surgery, is the Browns' only unsigned draft pick.
Garay was selected in the sixth round from Boston College.
