AUCTIONS
XAustintown Relay for Life Teams, Roth and Bosko, will hold a bachelor-bachelorette auction Thursday at Jolly Joe's Restaurant and Sports Bar, 3718 Sheridan Road, Youngstown, as a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Sign-up begins at 6 p.m. and bidding for a chance to spend an evening with one of the contestants begins at 7. There will be a dating game, 50-50 raffle and a Chinese auction. XCopeland Oaks will sponsor its seventh charitable auction Saturday at the retirement community, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring. Proceeds will benefit its Life Care Fund that is used when a resident runs short of funds. Viewing is at 9 a.m., and bidding will begin at 10. Useable, appropriate items may be donated until Tuesday, and donations are tax deductible. A 2 percent buyer's premium will be charged for credit-card transactions. Refreshments will be available. BAZAARS
XGreenford Lutheran Church, Route 165 and Lisbon Road, will hold a festival and bazaar from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature homemade sandwiches, salads, pies and cakes along with the annual quilt raffle and "Ruthie's Attic."
FESTIVALS
XThe Cead Mile Failte, a gathering of Irish clans, is planned Aug. 17 at St. Maron Recreation Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. The family Irish festival and heritage celebration will start at 10 a.m., and Mass will be held at 11. Irish entertainment will begin at noon and will include music and dancing. The event also will include vendors of Irish goods, cultural exhibits, children's crafts and games, and a soda-bread contest at 2 p.m. Sponsors are the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Mahoning and Trumbull Counties, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians of Mahoning County, Irish American Archival Society, Ulster Project, Muintir na H'Eireann and the Gaelic Society. SALES
XBethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, will have a No Trash, Just Treasure Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday with a dollar-a-bag sale beginning at 11 a.m.
XGood Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima, will hold an ice cream social and flea market from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 16. Aug. 23 is the rain date. There will also be food and a bake sale.
XWomen's Guild of St. Mary Catholic Church, state Route 46, Mineral Ridge, will sponsor a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Homemade baked goods and $1 lunch specials will be available. Saturday will be a Buck-a-Bag Day.
XYellow Creek Presbyterian Church, 17365 state Route 45, Wellsville, will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Featured at the event will be a bake sale, car wash and a luncheon. Items will be $1 a bag beginning at noon.
