Walk planned at YSU for three counties
This year's event will take place at one location.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The American Heart Association will sponsor the 2003 American Heart Walk to be held Sept. 13.
For the first time, participants from Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties will gather at one walk site, the Youngstown State University track, to help reach the goal of $130,000. Last year's event raised $111,000. Proceeds from the walk are used for research and education in heart disease and stroke.
Thomas Hollern, area president for National City Bank, Northeast Region, is chairman of the event, and many of the walkers will be recognized with red survivor caps during the ceremonial first lap to be led by the 2003 Heart Children, Colin Beltran of Austintown and Olivia Pushak of Cortland.
