Red Cross alerts residents to scam

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Red Cross is asking residents to notify it if they have been approached for any type of monetary or in-kind donations for an auction to raise funds for local flood victims.
Local officials said individuals have been soliciting items for a silent auction Aug. 29.
The individuals say the auction is sponsored by the Red Cross. The Red Cross said there is no such auction.
Immediately notify Cheryl Oblinger, executive director, or Jackie Wolf, development director, at (330) 392-2551.
The chapter will document all information and forward it to the city police department.
To make a contribution to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, call (800) HELP-NOW or (800) 257-7575 (Spanish).
Contributions also may be mailed to Trumbull County Chapter ARC, P.O. Box 1390, Warren 44482-1390, or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013. Internet users can make a secure online credit card contribution at www.redcross.org.
