YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray began duties Friday as the new pastor at First Unitarian Church. She received her Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School in 2001. She then worked at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Nashville, Tenn., where she participated in Tying Nashville Together, a community group designed to bring the underrepresented to the political table by organizing churches, neighborhood groups and parent organizations. She is married to the Rev. Brian Frederick-Gray, a minister in Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Services through August are at 10:30 a.m.
New Presbyterian pastor
KINSMAN -- The Rev. Larry Myers will begin his ministry at Kinsman Presbyterian Church at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. A reception will follow the service. The Rev. Mr. Myers is a graduate of Clarion University and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Before his seminary training, he was an analytical chemist with Pennzoil. He has served in a number of capacities in the church, including deacon, elder and student pastor. He spent the summer of 2001 on a mission trip to Kenya. Mr. Myers and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of three grown children.
Rock concert set
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Dig Project, a rock band influenced by U2 and Audio Adrenaline, will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at First Presbyterian Church. The band has been on tour this summer. An offering will be taken. An ice cream sundae bar will follow the concert. Call (330) 652-5712.
Anniversary service
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Hope Renewing of the Holy Ghost Church will celebrate the 14th anniversary of the Rev. William C. Taylor as pastor of the church at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Bishop John Eldridge of Family Worship Church.
Book signing
YOUNGSTOWN -- Evangelist and author Keith A. Spann of the Faith Clinic Ministry will launch and sign copies of his new book at a dinner at 5 p.m. next Saturday at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ. His new book is "Overcoming the Odds, Revelations and Warnings." The cost for the dinner and a copy of the book is $20. 'Men of Valor' events
YOUNGSTOWN -- Union Baptist Church will have two "Men of Valor" events, including a discussion of "Real Men" experiences at 11 a.m. next Saturday. At 10:45 a.m. Aug. 10, the Rev. T.J. Thomas of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Toledo will be the guest speaker.
Summer revival set
SHARON, Pa. -- The Rev. Kenneth Paramore of United Baptist Church in Akron will be the evangelist when New Light Missionary Baptist Church has summer revival services at 7 p.m. Aug. 13-15. The theme is "Let Us Rise Up and Build."
