Men look and feel cool in stylish seersucker suit

SCRIPPS HOWARD
Seersucker is the quintessential summer suit. The lightweight cotton fabric stays cool in hot climes, and the easy style has cross-generation appeal.
"Young men are wearing seersucker just like their grandfathers," says Harry Pollock, the store manager of a Varsity Men's Shop in Raleigh, N.C., where seersucker is selling big.
At generally half the price of wool suits, seersucker is also a good deal.
But as with any other suit, with seersucker, fit and accessories matter.
Generally, Pollock says, seersucker should never be cut too close to the body. The point, after all, is to have a cool suit.
Here are some of Pollock's other seersucker style pointers:
UPopular pinstripe colors include gray, light blue, tan, brown and dark blue.
U1/4-inch of shirt sleeve should show at the wrist.
UCoat length should completely cover the buttocks.
UCoats come in two- and three-button styles.
UPant legs should end 1/2 inch above the shoe heel in back.
UWhite shirts go best, though pink, yellow and light blue are sometimes worn.
UWhite bucks are the optimum and classic shoes for seersucker. Otherwise opt for black in either a lace-up or more formal tassel-style loafer.
UBow ties are also a seersucker classic. Some men use them to inject a dash of color.
