Howland getaway driver gets 4 years in jail
WARREN -- A Howland woman will spend four years in prison for her part in the November 2001 robbery of First Place Bank.
Judge John Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court sentenced Pamela Funk, 29, on the aggravated robbery charge Thursday.
She was accused of being the driver in the robbery of the bank branch in the Jamestown Village Plaza on Mahoning Avenue N.W.
Atty. Roger Bauer, who represented Funk, asked that sentencing be postponed until September when Funk's children, ages 10 and 5, will be in school.
"I never went into that bank," a crying Funk told the judge.
Chris Becker, an assistant county prosecutor, recommended the four-year sentence, three years for the aggravated robbery charge and a mandatory one-year sentence on the specification that a gun was used.
It was the minimum sentence for the charges.
Funk could have been sentenced to as much as 10 years.
