Lutheran Church seekshelp for flood victims
WARREN -- Emmanuel Lutheran Church is looking to form a joint effort of churches to help flooding victims.
Emmanuel Lutheran Church's weekly Clothes Closet will distribute extra clothes next week.
Church members and pastors organized the effort and are looking for other churches to join the project.
Clothing will be distributed Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at Emmanuel Lutheran at 140 Cherry Ave. N.W.
Volunteers are needed. There will be a meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Monetary donations can be taken to any Second National Bank branch and contributed to the Northeast Ohio Disaster Fund.
7/82 intersection closed
BROOKFIELD -- The Ohio Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the state Routes 7/82 intersection is closed for widening.
Those attending tonight's World of Outlaws race show at Sharon Speedway in Hartford should take 82 to state Route 193, then north to state Route 305.
Public library reopensand reschedules events
HUBBARD -- The public library, closed because of flooding, is to reopen Thursday. The children's room remains closed.
No overdue fines will be charged for the days the library is closed for emergency repairs.
Tuesday's Law in the Library lecture segment, "Purchasing a Home," has been rescheduled for Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, local artist Linda Clark will teach a watercolor course on four successive Saturdays, starting Aug. 9 from noon to 3 p.m. each week.
Cost is $50. Checks or money orders should be mailed to Clark at 800 Woodland Ave., Hubbard 44425.

Niles woman reports rape
NILES -- Police are investigating a North Clover Avenue woman's report that she was raped.
The 40-year-old woman said she was playing cards with neighbors July 20 when she began feeling intoxicated.
She said a man at the gathering helped her to the couch then sexually assaulted her.
The police report said the woman was taken to a Warren hospital when she suffered a seizure.
Board recalls teacherswho were laid off
NILES -- A woman who sued the board of education after being laid off will be teaching again this fall.
Melanie A. Penska was one of two teachers recalled by the board Tuesday.
Penska, a high school English teacher, and Anna M. Keatley, an elementary school teacher, were brought back because of attrition.
Penska, Mark A. Salvaterra and Tracie Parry sued the district last month to get their jobs back after budget constraints in the district forced officials to lay off 10 educators.
Penska plans to withdraw from the suit.
Dairy Mart robbery
WARREN -- Police are investigating a robbery that took place early Tuesday at a North Road convenience store.
A Dairy Mart employee told police a man walked in and demanded money at knifepoint.
The clerk handed over the money, and the man ran behind the store.
Deadline approachesfor Mill Creek bike ride
CANFIELD -- Friday is the registration deadline for the bicycle ride through the Mill Creek watershed Aug. 10.
The 30-mile course, which runs from Canfield to the creek's headwaters south of Columbiana, is rolling to level.
A light lunch is included in the $10 registration fee.
