Even toddlers like stylish beachwear
WASHINGTON POST
Even mini shoppers care whether the yellow polka-dot bikini is in or out. This season, babes are splashing around in bright pinks and bold oranges, gingham, ruffles and, yes, polka dots, according to tyke shop Petit Patapon's inventory. While adults tend to shy away from colors that bring too much attention to their, ummm, assets, tots don't care. "Children can really use colors, patterns and styles that go along with a day at the beach," says Petit's Lisa Berke.
Boys' trunks are covered in "boy" things: sailboats, amphibians and manly Hawaiian prints. Girls' swimsuits tend toward flowers, fish, flowers, checks and more flowers.
Warm colors and unique styles magnify a baby's "already playful mood at the beach," says Berke. And as long as you keep the sun out of their eyes and the sand out of their mouths, everyone's happy.
