Receives degree
Joseph M. Bestic, formerly of Salem, has received his medical degree from Ohio State University, where he was a member of a national medical honor society.
Dr. Bestic was a 1999 summa cum laude graduate of Washington & amp; Lee University in Lexington, Va., where earned his bachelor's degree in biology. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity as well as a Phi Beta Kappa.
A 1995 graduate of Salem High School, Bestic will start his residency in radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., and is in a transitional internship at Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Michael E. Bestic of Salem, the grandson of Frank and Virginia Bestic of Youngstown, and is married to the former Katie Shannon.
Veterinary degree
Angela Dawn Lucas, daughter of Robert and Fran Lucas of Vienna Road, Niles, graduated cum laude from Ohio State University with a degree in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Lucas is a 1995 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, and attended Wooster College, where she received her bachelor's degree in biology in 1999.
She is practicing with the Animal Medical Center in Columbus.
Begins residency
Dr. Larry R. Cadman Jr. of North Lima has begun a three-year residency in anesthesiology at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.
He graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002, and recently completed his internship in St. Petersburg, Fla. He attended Chaney High School in Youngstown and completed his pre-med studies at Kent State University. He is the son of Larry and Linda Cadman of North Lima.

Passed bar exam
Jason Matthew Katz of Boardman has passed the Ohio State Bar Examination and is working as a judicial law clerk for Judge Deborah L. Cook of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Cincinnati.
Atty. Katz graduated summa cum laude from the University of Akron School of Law. While in law school, he served as an editor on the Akron Law Review.
He also competed on Akron Law School's National Moot Court Team and on its National Mock Trial Team. Katz additionally served as his law class's president for three years, including his senior year.
A 1995 graduate of Boardman High School, Katz earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Youngstown State University. While attending law school during the evening, Katz worked full time as the bailiff for Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. He is the son of Atty. Louis and Catherine Katz of Boardman.
