American Indian group plans gathering
COITSVILLE -- The public is invited when the Red Hawk American Indian Cultural Society holds a Native American Gathering 10 a.m. to dusk Aug. 16 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at Willow Ranch on South Hubbard Road.
Dancing, drumming and singing will be performed, and many American Indian tribes from across the United States and Canada will be represented.
Food, arts and crafts will be on sale. Raffles and pony rides will be going on each day.
Musical acts include Tze'ec, a Quiche Mayan Jaguar Priest, Bird Chopper from the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina and the Red Bird Singers.
Dolores Santha, a nationally known American Indian storyteller, will perform at various times during the two-day event.
Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors and children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under will be admitted for free.
Red Hawk is a group from the Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania areas that works to preserve the American Indian culture in the Mahoning Valley.
