YOUNGSTOWN -- A North Jackson company is planning a $1 million expansion that is expected to create up to 50 jobs.
Mahoning County commissioners approved a tax abatement Thursday to help facilitate the development.
Precision Machine Controls, located in Youngstown Commerce Park, will build a new facility on its own property to house a manufacturing facility, said president John Frano.
He said the company designs computerized industrial control systems that are used primarily in the industrial engineering field. It also provides software services.
What's planned
Frano said the expansion will be a machine shop where the company will actually manufacture machinery and equipment that uses its control systems. Between 25 and 50 jobs should be created within three to five years.
He said the company currently employs 50 people, whose wages range between $20 and $40 per hour.
Frano said construction is expected to begin in the spring and be completed by fall 2004.
Commissioners approved a nine-year, 60 percent abatement of personal property taxes related to the expansion.
