Novotnys honored at celebration for 60th anniversary
XBOARDMAN -- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Novotny of Boardman were honored Aug. 2 at a party at the home of their niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Banner of Beaver Township, on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the celebration were the couple's son, Michael Novotny of Scottsdale, Ariz., and their daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and James Hennessey of Haslett, Mich.
Mr. Novotny and the former Ruth Kathleen Patrick were married July 31, 1943, at Cathedral of Incarnation in Nashville, Tenn. They spent the first years of their marriage in Youngstown before transferring to Battle Creek, Mich., where Mr. Novotny worked for 20 years for the federal government at the Battle Creek Logistics Service Center. Upon his retirement in 1979, the couple relocated to this area.
Mr. Novotny served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was wounded twice. He received the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster.
Mrs. Novotny is a homemaker.
