Gioiello 50th is celebrated, vows renewed

XCOUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Gioiello of Council Bluffs was celebrated during a dinner party that took place Aug. 2 at the J.D. Posthouse in Warren.
The couple also are renewing their nuptial vows during a 9:30 a.m. Mass today at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, where they were united in marriage Aug. 15, 1953.
Also observed at the dinner was the 15th wedding anniversary of the couple's daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Russell Meyer of San Antonio, Texas.
Two grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Gioiello, who was raised in the Niles area, is retired from the Council Bluffs City School System and is the executive director of Mercy Hospital Foundation.
Mrs. Gioiello, the former Bonnie Jepson, is retired from the position of assistant to the president at Iowa Western Community College, where she is now employed part-time as alumni director.
Both are active in civic events, community promotions and benefit drives.
