BECKY SHER | Hype Sephora Chalks add sparkle, ease to your makeup
It never occurred to us that chalk could be a useful makeup implement. But as it turns out, it works better than you might think. We discovered that when Sephora introduced Sephora Chalks, a set of three chalks designed for use all over your face. Use the bronze chalk to give your cheeks a golden glow. The pink one tints your lips and the white chalk gives your eyes a shimmery sparkle. Or use bronze on your lips, pink on your lids and white on your cheeks. Decisions, decisions.
The square chalks are packaged individually, so you can throw one in your bag if you feel you might need a blast of bronze later in the day. But we love the way they look all nestled together in one box -- sort of like Neopolitan ice cream for your face. Look for Sephora Chalks for $18 for a package of three, at Sephora boutiques or online at www.sephora.com.
Great rooms
Every year, legions of college students face the same dilemma: how to dress up a dorm room that's basically four cinder-block walls and furniture that looks like it could be a hand-me-down from the local prison. It's no small task. But year after year, we're impressed with Target's approach to dorm-room decorating, and this year is no exception. The chain has enlisted designer Todd Oldham, and his creations are hip and cheap, our favorite combination.
And even if you've still got a few years under Mom and Dad's roof, there's something you'll love in Oldham's collection. Like the throw pillows ($6.99 to $9.99) that have a bit of retro flair. Or the corduroy bench ($19.99) that would be the perfect place for your college pals to sit when they visit for "American Idol" and "Gilmore Girls" marathons. We're also smitten with the laptop bag ($14.99), which protects your computer and all its precious contents but doesn't look like something your dad would carry.
Todd Oldham's collection is available this summer at Target stores and www.target.com.
