Adam Zitello of Poland, who will be a senior this fall, has been named one of 80 Morris K. Udall Scholars nationwide for the 2003-2004 school year. Students are nominated by their schools, and winners receive up to $5,000 for educational expenses. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and major in a field related to the environment, or be a Native American or Alaskan student majoring in health care or tribal public policy.
LYNN UNIVERSITY, Boca Raton, Fla.
Girard native John Lallo, a senior majoring in business, was elected president of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity's Delta Psi chapter.
OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, Columbus
Garrett Cravener of Masury was awarded the Financial Planning Association of Central Ohio Scholarship. A junior in the OSU honors program, he is a 2001 Hubbard High School graduate and son of Joyce and Gary Cravener.
Seniors Peter Mochtyak of Poland and Jeffrey Susany of Frankfort have both been awarded Joseph D. Blickle Educational Scholarships by the department of food, agricultural and biological engineering at OSU for 2003-2004. Both are graduates of Poland Seminary High School and are majoring in agricultural and construction systems management.
Matthew Ducay is the recipient of the Dow Chemical Outstanding Junior Award. The award, through the department of chemical engineering, includes a scholarship and is based on faculty nomination, academic performance, leadership qualities, extracurricular activities and potential as a chemical engineer. Ducay is a 2000 graduate of Poland Seminary High School and the son of Earl and Laurel Ducay.
ST. ELIZABETH DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION
The foundation has awarded 22 nursing scholarships, worth a total of $24,750, for the 2003-2004 school year. Through one program, scholarships went to 21 Humility of Mary Health Partners employees or family members for use at Youngstown State University or Kent State University.

McAllen of Canfield (KSU), Pauline J. Miller of East Palestine (YSU), Ronald D. Narog Jr. of Warren (KSU), Cynthia C. Novak of Poland (KSU), Edward D. Peachey of Leetonia (YSU), Darra L. Reid of Austintown (YSU), Rebekah A. Slater of Youngstown (KSU), Debra Petuch-Stubbs of Youngstown (KSU), Nancy A. Thomas of Warren (KSU), Ryan C. Turk of McDonald (YSU), Katie E. Wall of Poland (YSU) and Kristy L. Wilkerson of McDonald (YSU). A second scholarship program, in memory of Kay M. Hunt, is in its first year and assists a community student attending the Mercy College of Northeast Ohio St. Elizabeth Campus. This year's recipient was Charyl Lyn Lee of Niles.

Special education major Michelle M. Chufo has received a scholarship from the Warren Italian American Festival Committee. She is the daughter of Jim and Debbie Chufo of Hubbard.
JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY, Cleveland
Tyler Trolio of Boardman is one of 75 students selected to participate in the University of New Hampshire Cambridge Summer Program 2003. The program, held at the Gonville and Caius College of Cambridge University in England, emphasizes English, history and the humanities while students explore the United Kingdom through class work and British culture. Courses are taught by British and UNH faculty. Trolio is the daughter of Sandy and Albert Trolio.
UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA -- Twin Cities
Katie Kristine Fleming of Boardman has accepted a 3M Co. Science and Technology Fellowship to pursue a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the university. Fleming, daughter of Jeff and Rosemary Fleming, is a 1999 graduate of Boardman High School. This spring, she graduated magna cum laude from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. At YSU, she was a University Scholar and member of various honor and professional societies.
