TRUMBULL COUNTY Flood victims can apply for help at services office
Two state programs have been set up to assist in repairs and donations.
WARREN -- Applications are being accepted at the Trumbull County Department of Jobs and Family Services office for two state programs to assist flooding victims.
County commissioners said today they hope to establish other sites where applications can be submitted.
Both programs would provide money to fix major flood damage; replace damaged appliances, furnaces or air conditioners; or to buy essential household or personal items.
Under one program, up to $500 per household will be available to flood victims who are disabled or over age 55 and who meet income guidelines.
Applications are being accepted until Sept. 5.
The second program offers up to $1,500 for households with children or with pregnant women who meet income guidelines.
The application process for this program will be determined after it has been approved by the state.
Regulations revision
Commissioners were expected to approve a revision of the county subdivision regulations.
The regulations have been the subject of public hearings by the commissioners and the county planning commission.
Among the changes, the revised regulations would increase the minimum lot size and frontage for homes in parts of the county with no sewage service.
They also were expected to change the name of the county emergency management agency to the Trumbull County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in accordance with the federal agency.
Officials say the function of the agency, which coordinates disaster response among local agencies, will remain the same.
