HOUSTON -- Janeth Arcain scored a season-high 20 points and Tina Thompson added 16 points for Houston. Arcain was 5-for-7 from the field and Ukari Figgs was 4-for-6 in Houston's 16-3 run that broke open a close game in the first half. The Comets led 39-21 at halftime. Arcain started the run with a short jumper and Sheryl Swoopes it with another. Sheri Sam led the Lynx with 16 points.
Fever 92, Mystics 91
WASHINGTON -- Tamika Catchings capped her 30-point effort with a driving layup at the buzzer in overtime. Chamique Holdsclaw muscled past Catchings at the other end to give the Mystics a 91-90 lead with 2.5 seconds remaining. She finished with 28 points, 13 rebounds and matched her career high with seven assists. But Catchings -- who made nine of 21 shots, including 5-for-11 from 3-point range -- made the game-winner off the glass then breathed a sigh of relief after a 1-minute delay for officials to review the instant replay. She also had seven assists and six rebounds. Natalie Williams had 21 points and 13 rebounds as the Fever set a team records for points and 3-point baskets with 13. Coquese Washington added a career-high 18 points and seven assists for Indiana. Asjha Jones added 21 points for the Mystics.
Mercury 66, Liberty 59
PHOENIX -- Slobodanka Tuvic had 17 points to lead Phoenix over New York, snapping the Mercury's seven-game losing streak. New York (9-12) has lost a franchise-worst four straight game -- all on the road. New York also lost four straight in 1997, 1998 and 2001. Lisa Harrison scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting for Phoenix (4-18), which avoided breaking the franchise mark for consecutive losses. Vickie Johnson added 17 points for the Liberty, who have lost seven of their last nine games.
