BROWNS NOTEBOOK | From training camp

All smiles: Browns running back Jamel White was all smiles after the first half of Tuesday's practice. That's because he isn't feeling wobbly anymore. White was kept out of Monday's practices after taking blows to the head twice during weekend drills. He had an MRI test and X-rays on Monday, but said he was feeling much better Tuesday, as evident by his taking part in the team's morning practice. "It was rough sitting out [Monday]," White said. " I had never missed any part of any training camp before this." Last month, White signed a four-year contract with a $1.3 million signing bonus. He rushed for 470 yards last season and caught 63 passes.
Champing at the bit: After missing two days of practice and wearing a knee brace on Monday, defensive tackle Gerard Warren said he is basically completely recovered from a hyperextended right knee. "Tomorrow I'm taking this knee brace off," Warren said. "Today I did some tackling drills and went to the ground. I'm ready to get things fired back up." Warren is hoping for a better year after a disappointing 2002 when he had only two sacks and 54 tackles. He was the third overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft after a stellar career at Florida.
A whole new look: Quarterback Tim Couch is in a heated battle for the starting job with teammate Kelly Holcomb. It is easily the most talked about issue in training camp. But Couch's new look is often mentioned as well. In the off-season, Couch lost about five pounds and a lot of body fat. He also dyed his hair blonde to go with his new, toned physique. "Tim is looking great," offensive lineman Shaun O'Hara said. "Every time he takes his shirt off, you can see his ripped six-pack."
No Yankees allowed: All four of Cleveland's quarterbacks have something in common -- they all hail from colleges in the South. Couch attended Kentucky, Holcomb played at Tennessee, third-stringer Josh Booty at Louisiana and rookie Nate Hybyl recently graduated from Oklahoma. "We're all Southern guys," Holcomb said. "We all get along and it's fun going out there every day."
