YOUTH ROUNDUP Poland advances to title game with Wheelersburg

Poland defeated Bucyrus 8-6 in the Little League girls 13-14 semifinals and was to play Wheelersburg in the championship game of the state tournament today.
Jenna Medina struck out eight to earn the win. Jenna Susany went 2-for-3, while Julie Johnston (2-for-2) and Amanda Gittings both had doubles.
Poland lost to Wheelersburg 3-0 on Sunday. Ciera Urichich had a double for Poland.
In district tournament play, Poland defeated Canfield 4-1 in the 9-10 championship game. Jenna Modic struck out 10 for Poland.
Baseball
NORTHVILLE, Mich. -- The Astro Falcons Little b team won two of its four games in the NABF Junior Division World Series.
The team finished the year with a 34-9 record.
In the Cal Ripken (12-year-old) state tournament, Mill Creek Stars defeated East Muskingum 6-3 to win the championship. Shawn Roman struck out 11. Anthony Franceschelli had three hits and Jack Mocker, Dan Baco and Donald D'Alesio each had two.
In the Little League 9-10 district tournament, Canfield defeated Boardman West 2-1. The teams will play again tonight for the championship.
