STRUTHERS Police search for vandal of pizza shop, parked cars
The vandal apparently didn't steal anything.
STRUTHERS -- Police are searching for the man who smashed the glass in the front door of Pizza Joe's, 1014 Fifth Street, early Tuesday and then smashed the windows of several cars parked in the surrounding neighborhood.
The owner of the pizza shop told police that when he arrived at his business about 5:30 a.m. he discovered the front door, where the culprit apparently made entry, smashed, the interior ransacked and the rear door ajar.
The glass was broken with a rock, and nothing appeared to be taken, the report states.
After exiting the rear of the building, the vandal jumped a fence to the rear yards of Garfield Street and then made his way to Smithfield Street where he began smashing car windows, the report says.
Cars involved
The first cars to be damaged were a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville and a 2003 Nissan Xterra parked in driveways in the 200 block of Smithfield. The driver's side windows of both vehicles were smashed with rocks.
The man then threw a brick at the driver's side window of a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo parked in the 100 block of Morrison Street. That window was not damaged, according to police.
He also smashed windows on a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier parked in the 100 block of Wilson Street, a 2001 Chevrolet Impala parked on the street in front of 87 Hawthorne Street and a 1991 Dodge van parked on Argonne Street between Renee and Helena.
Witnesses told police the vandal is young, white, about 6 feet tall and 170 to 200 pounds with lighter hair and was wearing a white T-shirt and white shorts.
Nothing appeared to be taken from any of the vehicles.
