Search for boy delayed because of river force

ALLIANCE, Ohio (AP) -- A 12-year-old boy disappeared in the water while playing with a companion along the rain-swollen Mahoning River.
The search for Timothy Lawson of Alliance, who disappeared Tuesday afternoon, was called off late in the day because of the force of the current in this Stark County community.
According to police, 10-year-old Randy Burrows said he and Timothy were along the river when they lost their footing. Timothy went under in the fast-moving water and disappeared.
Authorities said the search would resume when the water is safe.
