NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE Lunetta slugs Scrappers to split with Jamestown

Mahoning Valley is off tonight before beginning a home series Wednesday.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- Anthony Lunetta drove in four runs with three hits Monday as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers salvaged a doubleheader split with the Jamestown Jammers in New York-Penn League action at Diethrick Park.
After Jamestown won the seven-inning opener 3-1, the Scrappers rebounded with a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.
Adam Brandenburg (1-2) won his first game by scattering six hits over five innings and allowing no runs.
The Scrappers jumped ahead 2-0 in the second inning when Ryan Garko was hit by a pitch. After Clint Chauncey singled, Josh Noviskey connected for a two-run double.
With two outs in the fourth inning, Noviskey singled and scored on Lunetta's single.
An inning later, the lead grew to 4-0. Kevin Kouzmanoff and Ryan Goleski singled before Garko's hit brought in Kouzmanoff.
Lunetta's lead-off homer in the sixth inning put the Scrappers ahead 5-0.
In the seventh inning, Lunetta doubled to score Chauncey and Noviskey.

In the opener, Garko homered with one out in the second inning as the Scrappers tied the game, 1-1.
The Jammers scored twice in the last of the second for a 3-1 lead that held up.
Jesus Colmenter, Scott Threinen and Garko each had two hits in the game.
The Scrappers had 10 hits, including a homer and a double, while the Jammers were held to just four singles.
The teams played a pair of seven-inning games after Sunday's action was rained out. It was the third time in a week the Scrappers played a doubleheader to replace games that were rained out.
Mahoning Valley is off tonight before beginning a three-game series Wednesday with Batavia.
