New bingo law requiresfestivals to obtain license
COLUMBUS -- Ohio's new bingo law requires all festivals to obtain a Type 3 bingo license from the state to sell instant bingo tickets or pull tabs.
Violators are subject to felony charges.
However, festivals may continue to feature games of chance, such as poker, craps, roulette and blackjack, without the license.
State legislators from the Mahoning Valley said they wanted to be sure all school and community festival managers are aware of the change, which took effect July 1.
To apply for a Type 3 license, contact the Ohio Attorney General's Office, Charitable Law Section, 101 E. Town St., Columbus, Ohio 43215.
