HUBBARD -- John F. Fecych of Hubbard has won a lump sum payment of $69,500 in the April 24 Buckeye 5 lottery drawing.
Fecych bought his winning ticket at Patton IGA Super Center on West Liberty Street, according to the Ohio Lottery Commission. He claimed his prize Friday.
Store robbery reported
HUBBARD -- A Hubbard Township convenience store was the target of a smash and grab episode early today. Police said the alarm at Ferrara's Market on Chestnut Ridge Road sounded about 12:45 a.m.
When police arrived, they discovered the door glass smashed in and cigarettes taken.
Beer seller charged
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police charged Munther Ghazanna, 28, of 546 Fifth St., Struthers, with selling alcohol to a minor at 8:39 p.m. Saturday. Police said they filed the charge after they saw him sell a six pack of beer to a confidential informant at Tiny's News & amp; Beverage, 775 N. Garland Ave. Police said they were investigating complaints about such sales.
Drug, trespassing charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- A city housing inspector had banned occupancy at 350 W. Chalmers Ave., so when police saw a light on at 10:53 p.m. Saturday, they investigated and found people inside the house.
Steven Burkley, 53, of West Warren Avenue, was charged with drug abuse of crack cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; and drug abuse of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and criminal trespassing, all misdemeanors.
Elizabeth Gregory, 40, of East Dewey Avenue, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespassing.
Patrick Catullo Jr. 49, of Stanton Avenue, was charged with criminal trespassing.
Garage break-in
SALEM -- A man living in the 200 block of Woodland Avenue told police someone broke into his garage.
The thief stole two tools with a total value of $400.
The crime occurred last week, the man told police Friday.
Handcuffed man escapes
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A LaClair Drive man was in the Lawrence County Jail this morning, charged with attempting to flee police who were arresting him on outstanding warrants.
Police said Adam L. Niles, 23, is being held on $10,000 bond after appearing before a magistrate over the weekend.
Police said they picked up Niles at a Park Avenue address Saturday and after he was handcuffed and led down a narrow flight of stairs, he broke free.
Still in handcuffs, Niles ran several blocks in the Young, North Mercer and North Jefferson street areas before police caught him again.
Police said warrants on Niles are for five counts of receiving stolen property, five counts of theft by unlawful taking and one count of felony forgery.
School Bus Road-E-O set
WARREN -- The northeast region Division A School Bus Road-E-O is from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Western Reserve Junior High School.

Entry deadline is Wednesday. Drivers from Trumbull, Mahoning and Ashtabula counties will compete, with the top nine finishers advancing to the state competition May 17.
Public candidates night

Health clinic sponsored
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health Department will sponsor a speech and hearing clinic May 6 at the health department offices, 7360 state Route 45.
Anyone up to 21 years old may be referred by a family physician, speech therapist, hearing therapist, school nurse, public health nurse, parent, guardian or grandparent.
The examinations are free.
Otolaryngologists, audiologists and speech therapists will be on hand.

Brick deadline is set
MERCER, Pa. -- The Mercer County Courthouse Memorial and Honor Garden Committee has set a May 7 deadline for ordering engraved bricks to be placed this spring.
Bricks will be placed the week of May 19 in the garden on the north side of the courthouse. Each brick costs $53 including tax and may have up to three rows of print, 17 characters per line. Proceeds will be used to maintain the garden.
