YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Robert L. Pegues will be honored at "Perpetuating the Legacy: Black Educators Past, Present and Future," the Youngstown Area Alliance of Black School Educators' 8th annual Student Recognition Banquet. The event is at 6 p.m. May 8 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington Ave.
A scholarship will be named after Pegues, who was the first black superintendent in Youngstown and Warren school districts, and he will receive a proclamation from the city.
Students will make presentations, recite poetry, and dance to honor Youngstown black educators.
Also at the event, the alliance will honor Youngstown area school children and presents scholarship awards.
