WARREN -- Police are investigating the homicide of a 48-year-old city man who was shot inside his Atlantic Street home.
Reginald Allen, of 481 Atlantic Street N.E., suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the side of his chest around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
An autopsy was performed by the Trumbull County coroner's office Thursday morning, officials said. Results are pending.
"We are still working on this and we just don't have a lot of information right now," said Detective Sgt. Al Bansky, the lead investigator on the case.
Allen was in the basement of the home when someone broke into the residence, police said. There were other people in the home at the time but no one else was injured, police said.
The others in the home did not know who entered the house.
"They heard a gunshot and called police," Bansky said.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information on the slaying is asked to call Bansky at (330) 841-2722.
This is the city's fourth homicide of the year. Police noted that there were only four homicides last year in Warren.
"I want to make sure we do our best to solve all of them," said Police Chief John Mandopoulos.
Other homicides
Police are still investigating the April 4 killing of Mark Crowder. The 47-year-old North Park Avenue man was found beaten to death in his home. No arrests have been made.
Police did make arrests in the other two homicides.
Michael D. Doll, 19, of Warren was arrested on an aggravated murder charge. He is accused in the March 21 killing of Michael E. May, 21, of Cortland at an apartment on North St. N.W. Doll has pleaded innocent and is in the county jail.
Michael Ledger, 40, is accused of causing the death of 4-year-old Logan Gyton. Logan was found beaten Jan. 18 at the home he shared with Ledger. Ledger has pleaded innocent to a murder charge and is in the county jail.
