Financial planning seminar for women to be held at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN -- A free, daylong financial planning seminar for women sponsored by Ohio Treasurer Joseph T. Deters is set for June 13 at Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center.
The event, one of a series of seminars to be held at nine cities around the state, will feature instruction by financial professionals on a variety of personal finance issues. Topics include budgeting, credit and debt management, estate planning, homeownership, investments, insurance and retirement planning.
A course on teaching children about money is new this year, and the investment curriculum will be expanded to include one session on investment basics and another on investment portfolio building. The retirement curriculum has been expanded to include sessions for participants 54 and younger and another for those older than 54.
Licensed counselors, social workers and chemical dependency professionals who attend will earn 4.5 hours of continuing education units provided by the Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board. The Ohio Board of Nurses accepts CEUs from any health care board of the state.
Early registration is encouraged to guarantee a seat and curriculum choice. Registration for the Youngstown seminar begins in May, five weeks before the seminar. Register by calling (800) 228-1102 or online at www.ohiowomenandmoney.org.
