Woman reports rape
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 42-year-old woman says she was forced at gunpoint to enter a vacant house on Emerson Place and raped early Tuesday.
The woman, who was interviewed by police at St. Elizabeth Health Center, said she was walking home from a McGuffey Road bar when a man approached from behind, put a gun to her head and told her to not scream. The gunman then forced the victim to walk to the vacant house, reports show.
The woman said she escaped when the attacker fell asleep.
Council delays action
POLAND -- Village council postponed any action related to vacating Elm Street for a project that would connect Poland Middle School to McKinley Elementary School.
Council members said they could not commit to vacating the street because residents have too many unanswered questions about the project's impact on traffic and parking. They said those questions would have to be answered by school officials, but no one from the school board was at Tuesday night's council meeting.
Council will address the issue at its next meeting May 6.
