New DOW assistant chief
Dave Graham has been named an assistant chief of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. Graham previously served as manager of the southwest Ohio district wildlife office in Xenia, overseeing a 17-county region. He fills a vacancy created by the promotion of Steve Gray to chief of ODNR's Division of Wildlife.
In his new position as one of the Division of Wildlife's two assistant chiefs, Graham will oversee fish management, information and education, wildlife management, law enforcement, aviation, wildlife diversity and construction.
Peregrine nesting starts
A new nesting season is under way for Ohio's peregrine falcons with five pairs incubating eggs and more activity expected at nests sites across the state, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.
This year 15 sites across the state have been identified with nesting peregrine falcon pairs. Last year, 12 pairs of falcons produced 37 young fledglings.
Peregrines have successfully nested at Akron, Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Ironton and Toledo locations.
Currently, a pair in the Village of Cleves near Cincinnati is incubating five eggs atop an Ohio River Power Plant, while in Ironton falcons are sitting on four eggs under a bridge that spans the Ohio River.
Two pairs of falcons are incubating four eggs each in Cleveland; one nest is on the Cleveland Clinic and the other is on the Terminal Tower.
The fifth nest sits atop the AT & amp;T Building in Dayton.

Free fishing May 3, 4
Ohio residents are encouraged to take advantage of Free Fishing Days on May 3 and 4 . During these two days only, Ohioans may fish in any of the state's public waters without having to purchase a fishing license.
At all other times of the year, anglers older than 16 years of age are required to have a valid fishing license. An annual resident fishing license costs $15. People aged 66 and older can obtain a free fishing license at any license vendor. A one-day fishing license is also available for $7, and that amount can later be redeemed for credit toward purchase of an annual fishing license.
A fishing license is normally required to take fish, frogs or turtles from Ohio waters.

Turkey clinic set
Portage Summit Field & amp; Stream Club, 8405 U.S. Route 224 Deerfield, will host a spring turkey hunting clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p. m. April 12.
The clinic is geared to introduce the novice turkey hunter to the turkey woods. It can also give some inside tips and information to the seasoned turkey hunter.
Following the clinic hunters will have the opportunity at the firing range to check the shot patterns on their turkey guns.

A "Lets Go Fishing" clinic will be held May 17 at 10 a.m. This clinic is geared to the novice angler, giving basic and fine points of inland lakes and stream fishing. Lunch is provided and re-registration is required at the above numbers.
