SHARON E. State St. pharmacy robbed; Logan Ave. man is assaulted

A Logan Avenue man is accused of injuring his former landlord with a knife.
SHARON, Pa. -- Police are investigating the robbery of an East State Street pharmacy and the attempted robbery of a man on Logan Avenue.
An arrest was made in the latter case, but the suspect in the pharmacy robbery remained at large, police said today. The two cases aren't related.
Police said a man entered the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 811 E. State St. around 10:30 p.m. Monday and approached a cashier to buy a lollipop.
When the cashier opened her register to make change, the man jumped atop the counter, demanded money and began grabbing currency from the register, police said.
When other store employees and customers approached, he jumped down, ran out of the store and got into a white Plymouth Acclaim that went west on State Street.
The robber was described as a black man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He had no beard or mustache and wore a black headband.
Man assaulted
Earlier in the day, police said Steve Sikora, 51, of Sharpsville was assaulted in the 200 block of Logan Avenue by a former tenant.
Police said Sikora and Patrick Cook, 20, of Logan Avenue got into a fight around 4 p.m. over money that Cook contends he is owed.
Police said Cook is accused of cutting Sikora on the hand with a knife -- a wound that required 10 stitches.
Cook ran away, but police caught up with him in Hubbard, where he was arrested on charges of attempted robbery, aggravated assault and simple assault.
Cook waived extradition to Pennsylvania and was arraigned before District Justice James McMahon, who freed him on an unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing.
Police said Cook admitted being in a fight with Sikora but denied having a knife.
