CAMPBELL Man faces several charges after standoff with police

CAMPBELL -- Police negotiated for more than two hours at a Sixth Street home with a man they say held his girlfriend at knife-point.
Dashone C. Conner, 30, of Chambers Street was arrested after he held the woman for 21/2 hours Sunday morning, police said.
The woman, in her early 20s, was taken to Forum Health Northside Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Conner was in the Mahoning County jail on charges of felonious assault, kidnapping, domestic violence and violating an anti-stalking protection order. He will be arraigned Tuesday.
Police were called to the home at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, and when they arrived they could hear the victim screaming for help. Police said they found Conner holding the victim down on the living floor with a butcher knife over her abdomen.
Conner screamed at the officer to get out of the house, reports said. Police left and called for help from the Coitsville and Struthers police departments.
Streets were blocked off, and Sgt. Nicholas Phillips, head of the Campbell Police Department tactical team and an advanced hostage negotiator, was called out to persuade Conner to set the woman free and surrender.
While Phillips talked to Conner, the victim was able to escape through the front door.
She told police that Conner had been there since 8 p.m. Saturday, and they had been drinking before an argument broke out.
