YOUNGSTOWN -- Bill Rodgers, who will run in next Sunday's 28th annual Peace Race, also will make a guest appearance at the Sim Earich Cross Country Meet Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. until noon.
Rodgers, a four-time winner of both the Boston and New York Marathons, will be on hand to sign autographs and his new book entitled, "Bill Rodgers' Lifetime Running Plan."
Besides Rodgers, who won the 1977 Peace Race over a 25-kilometer course, other recent top-caliber entries in next Sunday's Peace Race over 10 kilometers are Debbie Kilpatrick of Berea and Carl Hatfield of West Virginia.
Kilpatrick was the U.S. marathon champion in 1995, and placed sixth in the 1996 U.S. Olympic Marathon.
Hatfield won the 1979 Peace Race held over a 10-kilometer course for the first time.
Sunday's 10-kilometer run will begin at 10:15 a.m. The 2-mile Fun Run/Walk will start at 9:30 a.m.
Registration for the Peace Race will be held at Second Sole in Boardman on Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entry forms are available at Second Sole.
