Family dinner, trip celebrate Weaver jubilee



YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Weaver, 422 W. Evergreen Ave., were guests of honor during a family dinner Sept. 24 at Red Lobster Restaurant in Youngstown.
The couple also marked the celebration with a trip to Las Vegas the week of Sept. 15.
The honorees' children and spouses were hosts for the dinner. They are Vanita and Emmanuel Warren and Sonya Weaver, all of Youngstown, and Alisa and Frank Bush of Atlanta.
The former Cecelia Lovejoy and Mr. Weaver were married Sept. 24, 1952, at Bluefield State College, Bluefield, W.Va.
Mrs. Weaver was a clerk at Kmart in Austintown and retired in 1988. She is a member of senior citizen and grandparents associations.
Retiring in 1988, Mr. Weaver was an inspector with the city of Youngstown and served as president of City of Youngstown Employees No. 288 for about 25 years. He is a member of AFSCME Retirees 118 and AFSCME State Retirees 1188 and the Deputy Sheriff Commission. He served in the Reserve Officers Training Corps and attended Youngstown State University and Bluefield State College.
The couple are members of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Youngstown.
The family circle includes five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
