YOUNGSTOWN Park board news

The city's park and recreation commission handled these items Thursday:
Approved a cell phone tower for Alltel Communications at Oakland Field. The city will be paid $1,000 a month rent.
Awarded a $6,415 contract to ES & amp;C Inc. of Youngstown to handle construction management for new equipment and other improvements at John White, Kirkmere and Kochis parks.
Awarded a $4,800 contract to MS Consultants of Youngstown to do preliminary design of improvements to Lincoln Park.
Talked about Eagle Heights Academy needing better supervision of its pupils. Eagle Heights rents the old South High School field house for its gym classes and games. A clock and a window recently were broken, and Eagle Heights is paying for those.
Talked about the desired qualifications when the department hires a new maintenance supervisor. Officials want the maintenance supervisor to be able to oversee construction projects to save money on hiring consultants to do such work.
