TRUMBULL COUNTY Couple couple sues man accused of vehicular assault

The Niles man faces two counts of felonious assault and other charges.
WARREN -- A Girard couple is seeking more than $7 million from a Niles man accused of running over a woman at a Liberty Township grocery store.
Nancy A. and Robert Norman of Patricia Drive filed the lawsuit against Anthony V. Ciminero of Cardinal Court in Niles on Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court through Atty. J. Gerald Ingram. The case has been assigned to Judge W. Wyatt McKay.
The lawsuit was sent to Ciminero in care of Glenbeigh Hospital and Outpatient Center in Rock Creek, Ohio. Ciminero's attorneys couldn't be reached. Earlier this month, they said he was attending a drug and alcohol treatment facility.
Ciminero has been indicted on two counts of felonious assault, aggravated vehicular assault while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of drugs and possession of cocaine, benzodiazepines and opiates.
He is accused of running his Dodge Durango into the Normans' Chevrolet Malibu on July 9 while the Normans were in the car in the Giant Eagle parking lot on Belmont Avenue. The Normans either got out of or were thrown from their car and Nancy Norman was run over by Ciminero's vehicle when she lay down in a nearby field, authorities have said.
Injuries cited
She suffered "severe injuries to her entire body" that are permanent and will restrict her activities for the rest of her life, the lawsuit said. The couple has incurred medical expenses of more than $120,000 and will continue to incur medical costs in the future, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit said Nancy Norman has suffered pain, emotional distress, lost income and impairment of her future earning capacity.
Robert Norman suffered injuries to his head, back and other body parts because of the accident and has suffered pain, emotional distress, loss of income and loss of his wife's services and consortium because of the accident, it says.
According to the suit, Ciminero's actions constitute "willful and wanton misconduct and a conscious disregard of the rights and safety of others."
The lawsuit seeks $7 million in punitive damages as well as more than $150,000 in damages plus costs.
