SOCCER ROUNDUP Humphrey nets 4 in Liberty win

MECCA -- Brittny Humphrey had four goals to lead Liberty High to a 5-0 win over Maplewood Wednesday in a girls soccer match.
Brittany Schimpf scored Liberty's other goal while Amy Banner had two assists while keeper Briana Hideg made eight saves for the Leopards (3-7).
Lakeview 3, Badger 0
CORTLAND -- Heidi Neighbarger, Katie Barnes and Sarah Christner scored goals for Lakeview (4-5-2) while Claudia Omerod and Emma Starkey contributed an assist apiece. Goalkeepers Megan Gilroy and Sara Atrbuckle had three saves and one save, respectively, for the Bulldogs.
Girard 4, Newton Falls 1
NEWTON FALLS -- Jenny Sopkovich scored two goals and one assist to lead the Indians.
Krista Kirkpatrick added one goal and one assist while Tiffany Biss had one goal and Sarah Revella one assist for the Indians. Goalie Angela DiPiero made nine saves.
Desiree Sterling scored Newton Falls' goal.
Warren JFK 1, Champion 1
CHAMPION -- Ashley Christie scored on an assist by Christa Andamasarisin the first half for the Golden Flashes (7-2-2).
Alli Hazboun scored the goal for the Eagles (5-2-4).
Champion had 23 shots on goal, compared to seven for JFK.
Golden Flashes keeper Liz Wood made six saves. The Eagles' Michelle Rossio made 10 saves.
Hubbard 4, Erie McDowell 3
HUBBARD -- Christina Adams scored two goals while Jami Duvall and Amie Coonce contributed one apiece to lead Hubbard (10-2).
Duvall added two assists while Adams and Coonce had one apiece. Goalie Lynle Cornell had 13 saves.
For Erie McDowell (5-2-3), Angela Rapela, Tien Tran and Melissa Kuhar each registered one goal. Lauren Lewicki made 12 saves.
Boardman 0, Howland 0
HOWLAND -- The Tigers (5-2-3) had seven shots on goal compared to nine for the Spartans (7-2-1).
Keeper Darcy Quinlan of Howland made four saves while Boardman's Liz Agnew had six.
Poland 4, Niles 0
POLAND -- Taryn Carlson, Christa Yash, Angela Cavalier and Jessica Toth scored goals for Poland.
Carlson and Dana Donchess had one assist apiece while Landry Yankle had 10 saves.
For Niles, Amanda Orwig had 16 saves.
West Branch 1, Marlington 1
ALLIANCE -- The Warriors (3-5-3) took a 1-0 lead with 18:39 remaining on Anina Beegle's goal.
Marlington's Chrissy Perna scored with 2:14 remaining on an assist from Amanda Hoover.
Carlie Poffenberger made five saves for West Branch. Marlington's Elyse Williamson made three saves.
Boys
CANTON -- Mike Pero scored two goals as Chaney defeated Canton Timken 5-1 at Don Scott Field.
T.J. Klopta, Terrance Phelps and Mark Mraz scored goals for the Cowboys (6-4). Jarrod Garcia, Jeff Asch, Stephanie Asch and Pero had an assist apiece.
The Cowboys had 16 shots on goal to four for the Trojans (1-8).
Jonas Fortune scored the goal for Canton Timken. Tom Dazey had 16 saves.
