POLAND Girl faces drug charges

A boy became ill after taking a prescription drug provided by the 14-year-old.
POLAND -- A Poland Seminary High School ninth-grader will be charged with two drug counts after being accused of bringing prescription medications to school and sharing them with friends, police said.
The Clingan Road girl, who turned 14 Tuesday, faces charges of drug abuse and corrupting another with drugs. She is accused of giving friends Klonopin, an anti-anxiety medication used to treat panic and seizure disorders.
The girl was arrested Friday after a 15-year-old boy went to a nursing office at about 2:20 p.m. complaining of dizziness, police reports show. He was later taken to a hospital emergency room after being incoherent and unresponsive.
The 14-year-old girl told police she had taken four Klonopin pills from one relative and received one Vicodin painkiller tablet from another. She first told police she stole the Vicodin but later said it was given to her.
Change in plans
She had told an assistant principal that she, the boy and a 15-year-old girl were in a 10 a.m. science class discussing an upcoming school dance when the boy suggested that they skip the dance to go to a party, drink and get high.
She said she then gave the other two students Klonopin pills, telling them they could "get a high" from them.
She told police she had taken one of the pills around lunch time. The second girl also admitted to police that she took one of the pills. The boy could not be interviewed.
The younger girl turned over to the assistant principal a suspected Klonopin pill from her pocket. Police found a suspected Vicodin pill in her purse.
