PREP CROSS COUNTRY Cardinal Mooney wins Malone Invitational



The Cardinals won the boys Division III title and placed second in the girls race.

CANTON -- Erik Moss placed fifth and Dan Finnerty finished 10th to lead the Cardinal Mooney High cross country team to the Division III title at Saturday's Malone College Invitational.
The Cardinals had 72 points to Norwayne's 149.
South Range's Dan Nemergut took seventh to lead the Raiders to a fourth place finish.
Heritage Christian senior Brandon Inboden, who won last week's Spartan Invitational, placed first with a time of 16:48.
Mooney senior Val Zajac ran a time of 20:36 to finish second behind Norwayne's Nicole Camp in the girls Div. III race. Mooney finished sixth and South Range placed seventh.
St. Thomas Aquinas placed first with 77 points.
Monica Cuevas took 15th and Brittany Durkin placed 18th to lead Boardman to a fifth place finish in Div. I. Canfield's Mara Boak finished 16th. Hubbard's Mary Sivulich placed 10th in the girls Div. II race.
Lordstown Invitational
LORDSTOWN -- Jackson-Milton's Luke McCluggage set a course and meet record with a time of 16:29 at Saturday's Lordstown Invitational.
George Parson placed second to lead LaBrae to the team title. Lordstown's James Rook took third.
In the girls race, Carrie Hart set a meet record with a time of 20:58 to lead LaBrae to the team title. Anita Simmons placed second for Lordstown and Mineral Ridge's Erica Cross placed third.
Suburban League
BOARDMAN -- Forty-one schools will participate in the Tuesday's Suburban League championships at Boardman High School.
The boys varsity 5000 run is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the girls race will follow at 5.
A boys middle school 3200 run is slated for 5:35 and a girls middle school run will follow at 6:05.
The final Suburban League regular season standings had Maplewood and McDonald tied for first place in the North division with 30 points.
Cardinal Mooney was the South division champ with 27 points.
Boardman won the girls South division with 30 points and Maplewood the North divison with 28.
