AMERICAN LEGION Local auxiliary members attend event



COLUMBUS -- Three members of American Legion 301 Auxiliary of Austintown attended the 2002 School of Instruction held Sept. 13 and 14 in Columbus.
Auxiliary president Carol Check, past president Judith Norton and June Stas, second vice president, Department of Ohio, attended the event.
Breakout sessions were conducted by department chairmen of Americanism, children and youth, community service, junior activities, and veterans affairs and rehabilitation. A membership workshop also was held to outline goals for the coming year, and an orientation was given.
Sharon Miller, Department of Ohio president, opened the session, and short orientations on the year's goals were given by the chairmen of the auxiliary emergency fund, Buckeye Girls State, education, historian, junior activities, legislative, national security, poppy, and veterans affairs and rehabilitation.
Guest speaker was Elsie Bailey, national president, and Jerry White spoke after the luncheon. He is coordinator for Ohio for the American government test trip held each year in Washington.
