Three city pupils face charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Choffin Career Center student faces a charge of assault on a police officer after she struck a Mahoning County deputy sheriff working security at the school, city police said.
The girl, 16, had refused to go to a time-out room for violating the dress code around 8 a.m. Wednesday. When the deputy tried to escort her there, she hit him several times in the face and chest. The deputy said he used force to restrain her and put her in the room.
Also Wednesday, city police filed charges against two other pupils.
A 14-year-old at Volney Rogers Junior High School faces a charge of illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon on school property around 1:15 p.m. after a principal found a straight razor in his pocket.
A 15-year-old Wilson High School student was charged with obstructing official business when he refused to tell an officer who pulled a false fire alarm that caused the evacuation of students around 1:45 p.m.
The teen was sitting at a desk in the hallway where the alarm was pulled. He told an officer he did not pull it. When asked who did, he said, "I can't snitch."
