TRUMBULL COUNTY Liberty trustee enters race for commissioner

Three candidates are in the race for commissioner.
WARREN -- A Liberty Township trustee has thrown his hat into the race for Trumbull County commissioner.
Patrick F. Durina filed Monday with the Trumbull County Board of Elections as a write-in candidate.
He will oppose incumbent James G. Tsagaris, a Howland Democrat seeking a second term, and Don Manning, a Cortland Republican, in the Nov. 5 general election.
Tsagaris squeaked to victory in the May Democrat primary.
Monday was the deadline to file as a write-in candidate.
Another write-in is Sid Stone of Waite Hill Village in Lake County, in the 14th District congressional race that includes seven northern Trumbull County townships.
Stone is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette, R-Madison, and Solon Democrat Dale Virgil Blanchard. The three opposed each other in the 2000 congressional race with LaTourette winning and Stone, a Libertarian, receiving only 3 percent of the vote.
Another write-in, Donald Rogers of Kinsman, is in the race for state representative in the 99th District which includes Ashtabula and Trumbull's four northernmost townships.
Rogers will be up against incumbent Democrat L. George Distel of Conneaut and Jefferson Republican Robert Rennie.
