PREP SOCCER Canfieldgets 1-0 win over Poland

POLAND -- Senior forward Abby Ferko scored a goal from about 12 feet out late in the first half as Canfield High blanked Poland 1-0 in a Metro Athletic Conference girls soccer game Monday.
Canfield goalie Noelle Zalac had 15 saves for the Cardinals (8-1-1, 3-0-1).
Lindsay Yankle had 13 saves for the Bulldogs (6-2).
There were 50 shots on goal, including 27 by Poland.
Boardman 3, Warren Harding 0
WARREN -- Katie Banks, Pam Prystash and Maggie Mills scored for the Spartans (5-2, 2-0 Steel Valley Conference).
Mills and Janeen Masternick received assists.
Boardman keeper Liz Agnew made one save while Harding (0-8, 0-4) keeper Ashley Elder made 14.
Fitch 3, Ursuline 1
YOUNGSTOWN -- After a scoreless first half, Dina Harris, Erica Bortmas and Brittney Gets scored to give the Falcons (5-0-2, 2-0 SVC) a 3-0 lead with 12 minutes remaining.
Freshman Mariah Snyder scored with eight minutes remaining for the Irish (3-5, 1-2).
Sara Canale had an assist for the Falcons who tried more shots, 17-6.
Alison Chasko had three saves in the Fitch goal while Katie Frank saved 11 shots for the Irish.
Lakeview 4, Newton Falls 1
CORTLAND -- Heidi Neibarger scored twice for Lakeview (1-5-2).
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Erica Sentner and Adrienne Morelli. Gabby Stefura and Katie Barnes earned assists while Lakeview keeper Meghan Gilroy made seven saves.
For Newton Falls (4-3), A. Lange scored while keeper B. Spletzer made six saves.

KINSMAN -- Goalie Liz Smith stopped 13 shots for the Braves (1-3-1).
Michelle Rossio had six saves in the net for the Eagles (3-2-3).

STRUTHERS -- Poland and Ursuline played to a 2-2 tie in the continuation of a match postponed earlier this month due to lightning.
Nick Royer and Seung Min Paik scored and Jeff Serenko had an assist for the Irish (3-3-2).
P. J. Booth and Ken Toth scored for the Bulldogs.
Ryan Coffey had five saves in the Ursuline goal.
Poland led 1-0 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half when the match was halted.

HUBBARD -- Chris Styn, Anthony Tombo and Justin Daly scored for the Eagles (5-2) in a game played Saturday night.
Tombo, Tom Angelo and Josh Petrusko had assists while keeper Mike Mogg made five saves.
